DIYHosting status

So if you’re at this site, you already know a little bit about the DIYHosting situation. For those who connect from an alternate source, DIYHosting is the company EIRCA founded and grew to be the most dominant reseller hosting provider available. In August of 2005 we sold DIYHosting to “The Internet Group Inc”. This was, at the time, what we thought was a good business decision from our POV and that of the DIYHosting clients.

Anyone who has read a web hosting news site recently saw that we have yet to settle that contract. Money is still owed and we’re still, 16 months on, chasing Haberli, Carruba and Mcarn.. the guys who bought DIYHosting. They still who us money.. lots of it. We broke our silence on the issue last week by issuing a statement against the (now former) DIYHosting directors. Search google if you want to see that press item.

So why am I discussing this publicly? Out of courtesy, and despite the utter contempt shown to us by the company who bought DIY, we have continued to play this by the book. A lawyer said jump, I said “how high?”. The Internet Group Inc have now sold DIYHosting in yet another blatant show of disrespect to EIRCA and the judicial system. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to work out why they did that.

So where do we go from here? I feel for the guy (David Allen, Trip.net) who just splashed his cash, to to speak, on DIYHosting, VIP-Hosting and Reseller-Center. He has bought hot property, in the bad sense of the term.

I am going to continue to respect the contract that I signed when I sold DIYHosting. Why? It’s the right thing to do.

That’s not to say, though, that I won’t leave you with this:

I have personally extended a courtesy to David Allen and Trip.net collectively. That courtesy, after speaking with him this past Friday, was an offer to resolve this ammicably before December 19th. After December 19th, my patience won’t be thin, it will be gone.

So, what is the status with DIY?

The status is that they are still running and hiding. It looks like they have all but killed the company. Most of the DIY web site doesn’t even work, unfortunately.
