After a couple of months of being a member of our local Yacht Club, I decided to give sailing a try after a friend of mine, Guy Tipton — an excellent and seasoned sailor, convinced me to take part in a race.
What a great rush that is, out on the water, back and forth with the ‘jib’ and being barely inches from the water as you’re leaning way back, and out, while navigating the course.
For all those who live near the water, or near Shelburne specifically, I urge you to try this sport. It’s a workout like no other, and an absolute blast.
For those wondering, Guy and myself also won the race!
