Sailing season to get underway

So, it’s that time of year again and I am really looking forward to the sailing season. While I may only get in half a season this year, it’s still going to be a lot of fun!

We’ll be starting in the albacores maybe even as early as today with a tune-up race then moving on to a mixed week schedule between Albacores and Yachts. The Spring Series for Yachts start on June 18th, and SpringĀ  races end on July 13th, followed by the Summer Series on July 16th.

Guy and Simon, getting ready to sail

Of the main highlights of the Yachting season, the main race I may miss is the Centennial Cup, on September 16th, but I’ll be trying my best to get back to the Shelburne for it. Last year I sailed on a great Catamaran and, even though we had no wind which meant the “big boats” put us to shame, it was a great race.

The one regatta I am definitely entered for is the East Coast Albacore Championships, which myself and my sailing partner Guy Tipton are entered in. This year we will be in equal equipment to most of the field, our own boat, so we feel we have a shot at the top three. Last year we finished as the top club boat.

My company is also sponsoring one of the Albacore series’ and will provide the trophy.
