I have contemplated this post for a week or more, wondering whether to just delete the ‘twins’ section or whether to carry on with it. As some of you will know, we lost one of our girls on September 10th and we are just about coming to terms with it, though still very bewildered by everything.
I decided to keep the section active as it is something that I vowed to do at the start, regardless of the outcome. We knew there was a possibility of this happenning but I guess we got a little too comfortable with being so close to the ‘due date’ so it hit us like a bolt from the blue.
What we warned about did happen, cord entanglement, and unfortunately Althea passed away on Sept. 10th. Zoe, however, is bucking the trend for this type of issue and is flourishing, piling on the punds and growing at a rate of knots. The doctors are in unchartered waters, somewhat anyway, as one baby surviving almost never happens.
Amanda is starting her third week in the hospital tomorrow and the c-section is tentatively scheduled for either October 9th, or October 23rd. They are not sure whether to let Amanda go to 32 weeks as planned, or try to squeeze two extra weeks out of her, so to speak.
I will be making more regular posts after my recent hiatus. I plan on finishing this section of the blog with some semblance of a happy ending
I will also be heading back to work today (October 1st) three months ahead of schedule.
