Just wanted to wish you all the best with the twins birth Simon. Hope all goes well at the hospital (they are amazing with new babies which are really resilient little buggers which I found as a 5 week premature was given to us 2 years ago.)

I am "QuietCalm" at webhostingtalk.com by the way. I had to say my peace as whoever that guy is was pretty personal in my opinion. If I had received 49% for our recent merger with Supra Canada, I would do exactly as you. Especially with twins coming! Business is always there waiting for us all.... family is everything though. In the end when we look back at life.. who the hell will say "Ahh my business!" LOL.. All would say.. "my family", I think.

Best you and your wife.

Hope everything goes well for you and Amanda Simon. Definitely stay positive. Sometimes doctors can scare the crap outta ya too. We were told our child may have difficulties too and our youngest daughter was 5 weeks premature and that was scary but one thing to not forget is babies are tougher and more resilient then us parents (and Doctors) sometimes think.

Rest Rest Rest Amanda. Best wishes to you both.

The status is that they are still running and hiding. It looks like they have all but killed the company. Most of the DIY web site doesn't even work, unfortunately.

I think you have mixed it up a bit.

Horizontal Growth: Acquiring vendors/companies within the same market as your own. I.e. your competitors. This decreases average cost of doing business and achieves Economies of Scale. Horizontal Growth can also mean increasing your scope of business by buying out firms that produce/sell different products. Hence, increasing your customer base.

Vertical Growth: Vertical growth, in contrast, involves a firm's taking over a function previously performed by a supplier or a distributor. I.e. improving your supply chain relationships. Your example of buying out the advertising firm is an example of vertical growth not horizontal.

Let me know what you think...

Perhaps when government legislation prevents a company from increasing market share any further within a particular market segment. Correct? Doing my A2 business homework and this has come up, need a little confirmation!
